Insurance Thought Leadership adds 2 industry leaders to advisory board
ROSEVILLE, CA — MARCH 7, 2017 — Insurance Thought Leadership (ITL), a digital publishing platform that promotes thought leadership in insurance and risk management, today announced that Michael Morrissey, president and CEO of the International Insurance Society, and Chuck Wallace, a co-founder of Esurance, have joined the ITL Advisory Board.
The Advisory Board helps guide ITL as it strives to meet the needs of the needs of insurance providers, technology companies and innovators as part of ITL’s mission to encourage thought leadership and innovation within the insurance industry.

Michael J. Morrissey is President and Chief Executive Officer of the International Insurance Society. The IIS is the largest and most diverse organization of the global insurance industry. Its members are insurance company executives, scholars and regulators from nearly 100 countries, who share their diverse knowledge and perspectives to study the forces driving growth and innovation in the industry.
For 15 years, Mike was Chairman and Chief Executive of Firemark Investments, an SEC Registered Investment Advisor. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of Selective Insurance Group Inc., and a member of the Board of Overseers of the St. John’s University School of Risk Management. He is a senior advisor to the United Nations on the insurance industry and a member of the World Economic Forum’s global council on Insurance and Asset Management. Mike is also an insurance working group member of the National Bureau of Economic Research, a special advisor to the Asia Pacific Financial Forum and a member of the Board of Governors of the Asia Pacific Financial Forum.
Mike holds a bachelor of arts degree from Boston College and a master of business administration degree from Dartmouth University and has completed the Harvard Business School Corporate Finance Program.
Chuck Wallace is an advisor, board member and consultant to early-stage companies in the areas of insurtech, mobility and fintech. He was a co-founder and senior executive of Esurance, one of the first companies to sell insurance policies directly to consumers over the internet; Esurance was acquired by White Mountains Insurance Group and later by Allstate Corp.
After leaving Esurance in 2007, he held leadership positions with Ustream Inc., uSell.com and Automatic Labs. Chuck also serves as an advisor and mentor at 500 Startups, an early-stage venture fund and accelerator program.
Chuck is a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy and holds a master of business administration degree from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business and a doctor of law degree from the University of Pennsylvania. He has served as a Director of Peninsula Family Service Agency, a non-profit social services organization that helps individuals and families improve the quality of their lives through a range of services to all ages, and is a past Director of Swords-to-Plowshares, dedicated to helping veterans in need by restoring their dignity, hope and self-sufficiency, and by reducing homelessness and poverty among former military men and women.
