A 20-year communications and insurance services veteran, Rachel Fikes leads Rising Medical Solutions’ Workers’ Compensation Benchmarking Study, a national research program she has piloted since its inception in 2013.
Now the largest survey of claims leaders, the annual study quantifies industry opportunities such as adopting a claims advocacy approach to engaging injured workers, moving from process management to outcome management models, migrating from fee-for-service to value-based payments and implementing talent development and knowledge transfer strategies to prepare the next generation of claims professionals. With its potent method of validating how and what higher-performing claims organizations are doing compared with industry peers, the study uses its data findings to advance benefits delivery in workers’ compensation.
For her leadership, Insurance Business named Fikes to its Elite Women annual listing, which recognizes women influencers who are shaping a more diverse insurance industry. She has also been honored with a Comp Laude Award, which recognizes individuals who are changing the story of workers’ compensation to a more positive narrative.
In addition to spearheading the benchmarking study, Fikes also directs all of Rising’s marketing, communication and public relations initiatives.
She earned her bachelor of arts in psychology from Kenyon College.
