Maryellen Coggins is managing director of PwC’s property/casualty actuarial services. She has 27 years of insurance industry experience and provides consulting services to insurance companies, reinsurers and regulators. Her primary area of focus is enterprise risk management (ERM) and economic capital modeling (ECM). She has led a broad range of ERM and ECM projects, including ERM programs reviews, risk assessments and senior management workshops, risk and economic capital modeling and validation, solvency workshops and readiness reviews and ratings agency support.
Coggins has contributed to several articles and white papers, including “Managing Risk and Capital Adequacy: The Potential Impact of Solvency II on U.S. Insurers,” “Model Validation: The New Control Imperative” and “Gaining Comfort: Capital Model Validation for Insurers.” She is a frequent speaker at insurance industry conferences on ERM topics, including the role of the board in ERM, economic capital models, model validation, ERM reporting, ERM and insurance supervision and solvency.
Coggins is a fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries. She currently serves on the American Academy of Actuaries’ Solvency Committee, is the chair of the American Academy of Actuaries’ ERM Subcommittee and is the vice-chair of the Casualty Actuarial Society’s ERM Committee.
