Louis Fey

Lou Fey has provided claims management for large insurance carriers and brokerage firms for more than 36 years.

Fey graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a bachelor of business administration with an emphasis in management and economics. Fey also holds the chartered property casualty underwriter (CPCU), certified insurance counselor (CIC), certified risk manager (CRM) and associate in claims (AIC) designations.

Fey specializes in contract review, coverage, complex claims, mediation and litigation strategy. Prior to joining BancorpSouth Insurance Services, Fey served as director of major case claims–construction claims services at Travelers Insurance, where he helped establish the construction division when it was split off from Travelers Commercial Lines. Fey joined BancorpSouth Insurance Services in 2007 as vice president of risk management, leveraging his experience to help identify and manage client risk.

Fey is also the principle of Fey Consulting, which provides insurance consulting and expert witness services on litigated matters.

He currently serves as chairman of the state of Louisiana property casualty commission, serves on the state of Louisiana insurance commissioner’s advisory council and serves as the president of the professional insurance agents (PIA) of Louisiana. Fey is past chair of the PIA’s governmental affairs committee and has spearheaded numerous legislative initiatives with a goal of lowering insurance costs in Louisiana.

Fey regularly gives seminars on insurance coverage and related topics and serves on various insurance company claims advisory councils. Fey previously served as a member of the faculty of the National Alliance for Insurance Education and Research, where he taught commercial general liability coverage (CGL).
