José Luis Jiménez is group chief investment officer at MAPFRE, the largest Spanish-owned insurer. Responsible for the management of more than 60 billion euros, Jiménez brings ample experience to his role, overseeing a global investment strategy that can be summed up as aggressively conservative.

A champion of socially responsible investing, Jiménez has actively steered MAPFRE AM toward ESG funds and led the launch of MAPFRE’s four ESG-derived funds: the MAPFRE AM Good Governance fund, a global equity portfolio with holdings in companies meeting good governance benchmarks; MAPFRE Capital Responsable, which actively invests in companies with strong ESG values; MAPFRE AM Inclusión Responsable, (jointly promoted with LFR), a fund investing directly in companies that actively employ people with disabilities, which was cited by the UN as a best practice; and, most recently, MAPFRE AM Compromiso Sanitario, a guaranteed fund that was created to finance the community of Madrid’s healthcare response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
