Jim Cunningham

Jim Cunningham is the President and CEO of Cunningham Group, an independent insurance brokerage that specializes in policies and programs for medical professionals. Jim began his insurance career in 1973 as an underwriter for the Insurance Company of North America (INA).  In 1975 he joined the J. H. Cunningham Insurance Agency, a family owned insurance agency, as an account sales representative.

In 1980 Jim began to focus entirely in the sales and marketing of physician and surgeon medical malpractice insurance.  In 1986 Jim was instrumental in the formation of Associated Physicians Insurance Company, which was subsequently acquired by ProNational Insurance Company. In 1991 he established an exclusive arrangement with The Doctors Company to offer their program to Illinois doctors.

Through his efforts Cunningham Insurance grew to become one of the nations’ largest independent agents specializing in medical malpractice insurance.

In 2003 Jim purchased and became the publisher of the Medical Liability Monitor, the leading publication reporting on medical liability issues.  Cunningham Group has continued to grow and excel in providing services to medical professionals, from medical malpractice to business policies, workman’s comp and more, Jim has created a family run agency dedicated to professional services.
