Alix Michel

Alix Michel is a cofounder of Michel & Ward, a general practice law firm in Chattanooga, Tenn., with an emphasis on litigation involving professional malpractice, medical malpractice, product liability, trucking accidents and construction claims. An active litigator, Alix’s trial practice features an organ donation case tried on Court TV and other complex trials including:

  • Defense Verdict – Alleged wrongful death of an infant
  • Defense Verdict – Alleged failure to properly perform hip replacement surgery
  • Defense Verdict – Alleged failure to timely diagnose ovarian cancer
  • Defense Verdict – Alleged failure to properly perform hernia repair surgery
  • Defense Verdict – Alleged failure to properly perform surgery on large toe
  • Defense Verdict – Alleged wrongful death
  • Defense Verdict – Alleged failure to properly diagnose resulting in death
  • Defense Verdict – Alleged failure to prevent suicide
  • Directed Verdict – Alleged wrongful death of an infant
  • Summary Judgment – Alleged violation of EMTALA

In response to the growing epidemic of Rx drug diversion, Alix spends a considerable amount of time helping raise awareness of this problem and has presented on various aspects of drug diversion to many groups including: the American Society of Medical Association Counsel, the Tennessee Pharmacists Association, the University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy, the Tennessee Medical Association, the Chattanooga/Hamilton County Medical Society, the Cleveland MGMA, the Chattanooga MGMA, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee and East Tennessee Children’s Hospital.

Alix has also written or cowritten several articles on Rx drug diversion and has been honored to serve as an invited speaker and moderator at the National Rx Drug Abuse Summit I, II & III. He has also been a guest lecturer at the University of Miami School of Medicine on topics such as “HIV & Confidentiality of Records” and “Preparation for Depositions.”
